DESCRIPTION:Jackson Grimm marries folk pop melodies with the lonesome sound of traditional Appalachian music. Grimm lives in Asheville\, North Carolina\, and can be found playing solo or around Western North Carolina with bluegrass band\, The Bull Moose Party. The band is also the band on Grimm’s latest album by the same name\, “The Bull Moose Party.”\n\nGrimm also plays extensively as a sideman for his father\, singer-songwriter Tim Grimm. Touring with Tim has taken him to over 20 states in the US and 7 countries in Europe (Netherlands\, Germany\, Italy\, Ireland\, Scotland\, Wales\, & England). He has appeared on\, written songs on\, and co-produced the last two Tim Grimm albums. Jackson has also shared the stage and played with singer-songwriters Ben Bedford\, Krista Detor\, and Jennie DeVoe.

DESCRIPTION:Bob Strain (keys)\, Connor Law (bass) and Jason DeCristofaro (drums) \nThe 21st Century Music Series at the Cedar Mountain Canteen will feature pianist and composer Bob Strain performing 2 sets of his original jazz piano trio music\, accompanied by Connor Law (bass) and Jason DeCristofaro (drums). 2 PM to 4 PM\, and no cover!\n\nBio for Bob Strain: Bob Strain holds a Bachelor of Arts in music from Shepherd University\, and Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in piano performance from Shenandoah Conservatory\, where he was on the piano faculty for eight years. He has performed extensively in the Washington\, DC region\, in solo and collaborative recitals as well as in long-term solo engagements at venues such as the Willard Intercontinental Hotel\, the Gaylord National Hotel at National Harbor\, MD\, and the Bavarian Inn of Shepherdstown\, WV. He also has worked at various times in DC-region big bands and jazz trios. Bob has served as pianist and music director for productions at the Contemporary American Theater Festival. He is currently piano faculty at Warren Wilson College and Asheville Music School.

At 6:30 pm we will enjoy an informal talk by Leif Olsen about applied mycology and focus on having plenty of Q&A about topics people are interested in. \nLeif Olson is an environmental scientist and educator with a background spanning ecological field research\, environmental chemistry\, soil health management and mushroom farming.
