DESCRIPTION:Jackson Grimm marries folk pop melodies with the lonesome sound of traditional Appalachian music. In a region with a strong music culture\, it is no surprise that Grimm’s songwriting is representative of his musical birthplace: Asheville\, NC. His songs run the gambit from an homage to a traditional country waltz in “If Not For You”\, an unrequited love song driven by a Beatles-esque melody in “I’d Hold You (But I Don’t Wanna Hold You)”\, to a drunken partygrass song à la Old Crow Medicine Show in “Last Train Home”. \nGrimm lives in Asheville\, North Carolina\, and can be found playing solo or around Western North Carolina with bluegrass band\, The Bull Moose Party. The band is also the band on Grimm’s latest album by the same name\, “The Bull Moose Party” \nGrimm studied Traditional Music at Warren Wilson College under the tutelage of great players like Wayne Erbsen and Kevin Kehrberg. He also studied guitar\, banjo\, mandolin\, and singing with the Western North Carolina music master\, Josh Goforth. Josh was the obvious choice when it came to finding a producer for Jackson’s latest album. \nGrimm also plays extensively as a sideman for his father\, singer-songwriter Tim Grimm. Touring with Tim has taken him to over 20 states in the US and 7 countries in Europe (Netherlands\, Germany\, Italy\, Ireland\, Scotland\, Wales\, & England). He has appeared on\, written songs on\, and co-produced the last two Tim Grimm albums. Jackson has also shared the stage and played with singer-songwriters Ben Bedford\, Krista Detor\, and Jennie DeVoe. \n\n—————– \nWe will also be hosting a community potluck dinner this evening and every Monday from 6–8 pm. DESCRIPTION:Bruce’s musical roots can be traced back to the 1950’s and include a love of Pop\, Rock\, Country\, Bluegrass and Reggae. He started his musical career at 16\, drumming in a cover band and picked up guitar a couple years later. In college Bruce began performing regularly and once opened a show for the legendary B.B. King. After graduating he joined up with his buddy Rick Taylor to form the Atlanta-based Indie Rock band\, Right as Rain. This band released two albums on DB Records. Right as Rain performed at the historic CBGB’s in New York City and Austin’s South by Southwest music festival. \nBruce is currently working on an album of original songs to be released soon. These songs blend a serving of rootsy folk with a dash of electric guitar\, covered in a twangy Americana sauce\, a combination inspired by musical heroes—The Beatles\, Bill Monroe\, Bob Marley\, Flatt and Scruggs\, Bruce Cockburn\, Dan Fogelberg\, and more. He enjoys mixing traditional acoustic classics with originals\, old country and quirky\nobscure tunes that you need to hear. Come see what he’s all about. They recorded a self titled album in 2018 and have performed across the area. Mark grew up immersed in mountain music\, as he hails from the well known Queen family that has won numerous state and national awards for their achievements and contributions to mountain lore and culture. Owen went to Warren Wilson College where he studied old time music and has been playing and teaching music in Brevard since 2013. Both musicians play with groups all over Western North Carolina and beyond. DESCRIPTION:Kessler Watson is a traditional American guitarist\, banjo player and musical saw player – prominent in traditional Appalachian music and a composer of original guitar and banjo works for most of his life. As a teenager he picked up the guitar and was immediately enamored by its qualities\, and found it to be the primary artistic love of his life from then onward\, and today composes and plays many different styles of guitar works from original compositions\, to classical repertoire\, flatpicking and finger style blues. \nKessler has lived and played as a professional musician in Asheville since 2018\, and has been a street musician for most of his life. \n—————– \nWe will also be hosting a community potluck dinner this evening and every Monday from 6–8 pm. Please bring a dish to share and your own non-disposable place setting. If you cannot bring food\, for any reason\, we are happy to feed you. We look forward to sharing a meal together. \n

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a night of music from Owen Grooms and Bradford Carson\, otherwise known as The Steel String Regulators. Bradford is a multi-instrumentalist who plays everything from old time to blues\, jazz and rock and roll. Many styles of music influence his sound simply because there is good music everywhere. Bradford was raised in Virginia and grew up singing\, playing the piano\, and listening to anything from Hendrix to Mozart. He gradually picked up brass instruments and strings while learning bits about theory and recording\, eventually attending Musician’s Institute\, Longwood University\, and Virginia Commonwealth University.
