The Frank Coggins Trail is located in Caesars Head State Park in South Carolina and starts across the street from the Visitor’s Center. You park there and take a crosswalk to the trail head. There is a fee to hike in Caesars Head. We buy an annual pass at the Ranger Station. The pass applies to the car so many folks can get in on the pass.

This visitors area also has an amazing overlook.  We have joined the hawk watch there during migration season in the fall.  It is pretty special.

Frank Coggins trail is listed by the park as 1.8 miles.  They provide this description:  An 1.8 mile loop starting from the visitor center with two small waterfalls and a small cave. Good for newcomers to Caesars Head.  We hiked the entire trail plus a little spur of the Natureland Trust trail.

The climbing on this trail was significant.  There were stairs in places, which helped.  It was really beautiful.  I did a quick capture of the birds identified by song with the Merlin app.  They state you need to see them for positive identification.

It was a delightful hike.  It is super easy to get to and the scenery was beautiful.  We have live here for 10 years and I still get surprised when we hike a new trail close to home.  What a joy.
