John and I are casually studying to become certified Cicerones. One of the recommendations for studying was to visit a malt house and sample malts using a hot steep method. We had an appointment in Asheville on December 7th so we contacted Riverbend Malt and scheduled a tour. It was amazing. I learned so much about the malt process. They even brewed a batch of malt and let us sample it. It was sweet and delicious.
We were planning of doing a malt tasting at the Canteen and had started looking for the equipment. Most of it was common but there was a specialty item we needed to order. Riverbend Malt told us they do classes and tasting so we are working with them to bring in a class! We are super excited. We are working on details and dates. Class size will be limited to 10. We will keep you posted. We live in an amazing place for beer. So much to learn. So much fun.
