Old Time Resource of the Week: Hymnology Archive

Off-topic for old time music? Maybe, but hymns, spirituals, and gospel songs are deeply entwined with Appalachian culture and made up a big part of the repertoire of many of the bands that recorded in the 78rpm era.

Same for b-b-b-bluegrass from the Forties on.

But another reason for recommending it is because it is an outstanding website. If only other music resources were this beautiful, this usable, and this complete!

It’s not strong on the country gospel hymns, but if you’re interested in old hymns and spirituals at all, you’ll find much to love in the Archive.
