Old Time Resource of the Week: Jake Blount
Circling back to Black History Month, there is one artist that I meant to highlight — Jake Blount. He has really dug into the backstory of string band music and its connection to African-American culture and history, good and bad.

In addition, almost like a sci-fi novelist, he has extended the tradition imaginatively — think the comic and movie Black Panther — to make his discoveries and insights more surprising and inescapable. It’s strong stuff, but it’s a bold and welcome vision. I hope you join me in checking out his work as it continues to evolve. There are many of his performances on YouTube.
