Thanks to everyone who welcomed and supported HUE!  HUE, which stands for Heal, Understand, Empower, visited Cedar Mountain for a week in June.  They arrived to their camp and got to business immediately.  It was impressive to see these camp directors arrive, organize and get busy.  They were on a retreat to plan the camp they will host in the future.  Many have been working together for years.

They also got to work creating up-cycled items to sell at their pop-up market at the Canteen.  Thanks to all who attended their market and made it a huge success.  The support from our community was overwhelming.  Folks cooked entire meals for the group and delivered them to the camp.  One community member provided a sewing machine so that a member of HUE could repair items during the pop-up market.  She had so much work she took some stuff back to camp to finish.  One community member escorted them to Brevard and introduced them to community members and organizers at the Juneteenth celebration.  They were also escorted to an afternoon of swimming at Triple Falls.

Our community went out of their way to welcome these young adults and let them know they were welcome.  Some offered lodging for future visits.  The members of HUE shared their gratitude and appreciation for such an amazing welcoming to the community.  We are excited to see them back in the community.
