Old Time Resource of the Week: Black String Band Tradition
We’ll start our Black History Month exploration with a program from a couple of decades ago, re-posted here from the Afropop Worldwide site. It gives us one view/overview of this history, and features the voice of Howard “Louie Bluie” Armstrong.
My eyes and ears were opened when Joe Bussard played me his 78 of Andrew and Jim Baxter playing The Moore Girl. This was great fiddling, not the blues or jug band music. Suddenly I saw that these streams of music were deeply intertwined. I don’t think the threads can ever be separated, nor should they be!
