It is with a heavy heart we share the news of the passing of our most faithful community member. Doug Hansen passed away and has left a huge void at the Canteen. He was a part of the fabric of the Canteen. We fed him so many meals and spent so many hours with him it is hard to image he won’t be back at his seat. It is heartbreaking.
We have a memorial where he use to sit and community members have filled pages of loving thoughts about and to Doug. We can’t bring ourselves to let anyone sit there for now.
Doug didn’t want a funeral so we are throwing a party to celebrate the joy he brought to our community. Join us for Dougtoberfest October 14th from 5 – 8 pm.
Dress like Doug, and like Doug, bring your own pint glass.
Doug loved our potlucks so we are hosting one for him. Please bring a dish to share and your own non-disposable place setting. If you cannot bring food, for any reason, we are happy to feed you. We look forward to sharing a meal with you.
